Hard to tell if it is machine made if you don't have the top to it.
I'd say the bottle is from the 1870-1890 period.
Looks like a medicine bottle that was good for the heart and lungs.
It says "balsam" on it.
hi that would have been a keeper for sure. as far as the dump, it may and may not be that old. people back in the 1880's held on to bottles for a very long time.so that bottle could have been made in 1880 but put in the dump in 1930! if most of the bottles and things in the dump date ,say 1930 them most likly it is a 1930's dump.keep diggin and find out.thanks for sharing ,matt
I think the dump goes back pretty far as most of the pieces go back as far as this piece.
I pulled a few other shards out as well some of them were a very interesting purple color I am going to dig there again today after I buy a better shovel
That is a Kemp's Balsam for the throat & lungs,a common TOC bottle.I don't know the dates of operation but based on where I have found them I would say they were made well into the 1900's.It is a good age to be digging a dump from.We have been working a couple from that age this summer.Good luck
well I'm back from digging and nothing panned out []
Who ever lived there must of not lived there very long because it's A very shallow dump
after about 2 feet down there was nothing but dirt and roots
