I'm thinking this might be a glass "Wall Tube" used to pass a wire(s) through a wall, rafter, stud, etc. It seems of small dimameter but would accomodate a small electrical wire or two. Most often they are made of porcelain / ceramic but some were made of glass. This ones application could habe been for a machine or appliance or some such.

the amber thing looks to me to be a top part of a glass syringe...i have dug a few clear ones that look almost like that....
