That's a notch that was used to hold the bottle in place while the label was being applied. As far as I know the idea was to prevent the bottle from turning in between different colours being applied. On some earlier ACL bottles the colours wouldn't quite line up properly.

I know that. The fact the notch is irregular make me think it's a bubble. The bottle could be made before they start doing that improvement. It's an opinion Al

Oh I didn't realize that's what you meant, sorry about that. Yeah not sure about the irregular notch, I suspect it was designed to be like that but I never really paid that much attention to the shape of those.
