We had some workers doing some remodeling of our storage area under the house this past week and they found an old well right at the edge of and under the house.
After all this time of not finding anything decent to dig, there was a freaking well right under my nose the whole time.
I finally was able to go down into today. it was never filled in and from a flashlight could see there was some muck and water at the bottom of it. After climbing down into it there seems to be about 3.5 to 4ft of dirt still in it. I only spent about 40 minutes in there today but within the first foot of one side I pulled out five whole bottles though the water and muck. My son watched from above as he saw three whiskey flasks and two embossed milks come out it.
Quite a thrill to be pulling out bottles from directly under the house. I'll be checking out the rest of it tomorrow to see if there is anything older near the bottom.
Here's some pics of the fun dig today.
Enjoy,
Doug
