Brimfield Antiques was this week...tons of great finds.

Got these two bottles and was told they were bitters. Not sure but they are beautiful shapes!

Both are man made. Seam stops below top.

Any info is appreciated.

From a former BITTERS specialist of 30+ years: "If it isn't EMBOSSED bitters or have an authentic label, it AIN'T a bitters". Now, that is just my opinion along with 95% of BITTERS hardcore. To my knowledge there has never been an authentic BITTERS found in that shape. That does not mean it isn't a Bitters.

My input is just enjoy & appreciate them for what they are no matter the contents. VERY nice appearing bottles.

I would consider them to be ketchup bottles but they could have held something else. Neither of them are common and an amber ketchup bottle is a very hard thing to find.

Aren't all bottles man made, or are there some from other planets?

I had a girl friend once that worked at the owens brockway plant here in upstate ny, so some of them bottles were 'women' made.

I would call them sauce bottles. I really like the amber one.

I own the blue one, and it was sold to me as a sauce bottle, (from the lyndeborough collectors/diggers I buy from here in new Hampshire).

Overall shape reminds me of SSP (S.S.Pierce) Olive Oil bottles. They were embossed but smooth surface and very similar shape. Just my guess.
