Unmarked bottle - anybody seen one of these?

Hello! Newbie here! My name is Lea and I'm REALLY new to this whole bottle thing. I'm not a digger (yet) but I love to buy bottles and I like to research them. This one??? I can't. My future mother in law bought it for me. It has no markings, no labels, an old cork that has fallen inside. The only thing questionable is the bottom has what looks like a "C" but could also be a pontil mark. It is very faint, light teal in color, has very little bubbles and the seams date it before 1900. The shape is very rudimentary as well as it isn't perfectly shaped and the neck is slightly crooked. It is as tall as can of soda.

What is it? What was it used for?

Any input would be greatly appreciated and I apologize if I posted this in the wrong place. I look forward to coming on here alot and showing everyone my collection.

Welcome to the forum Lea! Could you give us a better picture of the lip? Is it squared off flat, or does it have some irregular shape? To me it looks like an 1890's "Ayers hair" type bottle. A picture of the base might help too.

If the cross section is oval and it looks like it could be, it may be an unembossed Jamaica ginger........

Welcome, and thanks for joining us. Your bottle makes up the smallest part of your photograph. It looks like it could be a ring necked flask, but I had to lie down, and do a lot of squinting to come up with that.

I'm thinking it's more likely a "C" or something, rather than a pontil scar, but no matter how much I squint, I can't see that...[8D]
