Hello all, I found this marble digging one day and I'm curious to know something about it. It has 3 circle indents on it. Is it pontiled or just a fluke.
Thanks
Kim James

Hi, It looks like it was put into the corner of the container while the glaze was still wet/molten. Although I'm no authority on marbles I'd guess it's not pontiled.

It looks like a blue glazed bennington marble from here. If so, its pottery and not pontilled.

Benningtons are German salt glazed clay marbles. When they were put in the kiln, they were stacked tight. The spots are where they were touching other marbles.
