Washing Machine

Looks to be in great condition, maybe it could still work. There are lots of good usable parts in there if you are a tinkerer. Jim

It is supposed to work, but the problem is that it has to be hooked up to water to be tested.

hook it up to a garden hose outside. thats how i've tested ones i was trying to fix. block off the hot side with a cap and hook hose to cold side

That right there is a find! I bet your local appliance store would get a kick out of seeing this doo-doo brown go to town! Need to find a nice harvest gold or rotten avocado colored dryer!

Yeah, hook up a hose to it, same fitting. Thats how I test and repair extras. Each valve has its own actuated solenoid, shouldn't blow backwards out of the open inlet.

LOL, I believe it was called "Coppertone". Growing up, we had a dryer in that color, a washer in harvest gold, and a refrigerator in avocado. All second-hand, and still thought we were the shiz.

Showed this to an appliance tech friend, he said looks to be late 60's Maytag. His opinion on it: the best washing machine money can buy.
Repairing appliances myself, I will attest that $900 washer you may have bought, was one of the worst buys. When something fails in them, its never a clear cut issue, and the electronics are crap. The less digitalization, the less potential issues. Analog controls are the way to go in the end.

All I know is they weigh a lot. I've had to move them and stairs are a bich (spelled wrong to avoid being censored).

Most washers then had metal 'everything', but what realllllly makes them heavy is the balancing apparatus; a concrete block bolted to the underside of the tub!
