I am working on purchasing some labels, and the seller has came to me with these. I cannot certify if they are the actual diamond labels, or 1960s reproductions. The seller says they came from a Minnesota bottling plant that closed in the 1930s. He wants $20 for 6 of them, and says they are the real deal from what he knows about there story. Would like a few extra opinions before buying.

They confuse me, which I believe they are the 1960s reproductions. There is misaliged text, etc, the Paper looks old, but from what i've seen in other threads the script of C in cola breaks going through the L. Just want to get some more info before I decide to make the deal.

The light shines through the label and you can see the writing on the front.

Thanks everyone. I'm doing the deal. WORST case scenario, they do end up being fake. I plan to keep a few, paste one on a bottle, than sell the others and let eBay decide. I'll offer a 14 day return, and let the buyer determine if they are authentic or not.

Bump

Anyone else care to chime in? I went ahead with the deal, and they look everything authentic to me being made in a press.

These labels are always hard to tell if repo or not. But at $20 for the lot you cannot go wrong. If they were 60's repo's I think they would look nice framed anyway.

I would be interested in some of these. As far as I know the Charles Candler labels were never reproduced so my bet would be they are original.

They say the outer line(s) surrounding the label are broken along one edge and incomplete in spots on the originals... The copies are actually reproduced a little better. The original is on the right.

I would not buy the one on the right at any price. The one on the left would require closer inspection to determine if original.
