What does this logo mean?

I recently got bitten by the old-bottle-collecting bug after I found a few old bottles. I already learned a few facts about bottle dating and manufacturing, thanks to a few sites (to name one: http://www.sha.org/bottle/index.htm ).

My question is about a small bottle with a long neck. Height= 13,5 cm (neck= 6 cm), base width= 3.7 cm. The color is amber. No visible side seams, but faint concentric rings lead me to a turn-mold bottle. (1880-1910) I hope this part of my observations is right.

Due to its small size, I guess it held some kind of liquor.

The bottle base has a logo: A inside U

Can anyone help me with identifying this logo?

I forgot to mention that the bottle is European. I live in Belgium so the bottle has a big chance of being Belgian (or Dutch, or French, or German, or English). I know this an American bottle forum, but maybe one of you can help me anyway.

Welcome. That would sound right. I've only known a couple turn molds with base embossing and they were both Japanese I think. That doesn't mean it wasn't done elsewhere.

It's German and stands for Underberg & Albrecht. It's a German Bitters bottle.

It was kinda frustrating having those A and U staring at me and not being able to tell what they meant.
