Ever since finding that large cent and piece of turned slate on new year's day - 09 has been off to a slow start! Things are slowly beginning to happen and due to the lull I splurged and treated myself to a nice whisky on ebay. It came yesterday, but before I got home to open it, I stopped at a construction site and walked the edge looking for sign. In the undisturbed woods at the edge I spotted what looked like it could have been a fire ring of long, long ago. In the ring I found this broken quartz point. The whisky could use a tumble but I really like it.

Today I got a call from a friend whose dad collected bottles but sadly passed last year. He knew I had my eye on some and invited me over. I picked up three new Bel Air druggists to go with the other two I already had, so now I have a run of 5 sizes. The new ones are the tallest and two smallest. They all have the same embossing except for the smallest which doesn't have room for "prescriptionists". He also has a local milk I want bad, but he has to ask a brother about that one first as the five siblings split up Dad's many collectibles. Now if I can only get digging something good - the world would be as it should be!

RE: Whisky and druggists -added some more

Thanks Rhona, I bought some more yesterday. First up I was real happy to get a 1927 local milk on the right, next to a couple of 1932 styles I already had.

Also from Mr. Ed’s bottles:
1) A 1935 ½ pint Westwood Farms Dairy, ABERDEEN, MD to go with a pint and a quart I found in the woods at work dropped by hunters.
2) A large HONEY TOLU med like Jim and Genno found last year. I think this is an unlisted Baltimore bottle as there is an embossed Gilbert Brothers bottle with a Honey Tolu label although other drug companies could have also put out a Honey Tolu I guess.
3) A quart quilted flask with a very shiny smooth base – no wear?
4) The pale greenish ELECTRIC BOTTLING WORKS, tall Philada hutch with 1/ 07. on the bottom.
5) The little cobalt bottle is an ABM Pepsimint from Salisbury, MD.
6) In front of that is a SPETZER & KRUG / Hanover + Balto Sts. made by CLG Co. This is not listed in the Baltimore book in this larger size or with the Balto embossing.
7) The crown is a straw colored Bell Bottling Works listed as rare in the Baltimore book.
8) Last is a 1948 faded ACL Quality Service milk from Red Lion, PA. There’s no doubt it’s a cop top as it is embossed COP THE CREAM on the bottom and THE SQUARE COP on the shoulder.

Hey Steve,

Great whiskey. I have the same one, first I'd dug years ago. I'm pretty sure it's the most embossed Baltimore whiskey you can find. Lots of detail. Your looks like a lighter color then mine. Have Rhona tumble it. It should be great.

Thanks guys, yeah Greg I've wanted one of those since seeing one on Chris's web site. Great color and an amazing amount of embossing - must have been a fun mold to make.[>:] Most of the embossing is really strong but there is some fine stuff too but I think it would look great after tumbling. Wish I would dig one as nice as that! The glass between the body and the ladies leg looked wierd at first (like a repair) but I think it is just the way it was made. Don't you wish we could just have a little taste of what was in these things when new!
