Here is a nice pontiled medicine that isn't listed in Matt's medicine guide.
Clear, maybe flint glass, pontiled early medicine from Boston, Mass.

I wonder if there was a succession, like Coke? First Coke then New Coke then original formula. That may mean there one with neither Improved or Original. Anyway, nice bottle Woody!

A friend of mine, who lived in an old cape from the early 1800's, gave it to me, Joe. He found it in his basement and knew I collected old bottles.
I found alot of old bottles in the dump he had behind his house. One of the best was a pontiled saphire blue umbrella ink.[:)]

If you notice between the l and s in Whitwell's it has a comma and an apostrophe.

That's great Woody,...an ancient house, with an ancient dump,...a friend to give you the go ahead,...then bottles from the basement. Sure is nice to find pontils....It's a very rare occurance for us. Only by utter diligence and persistence have I happened on a few around here....Seems to be a much earlier established community where you are.

P.S. the early mold maker was an indecisive type guy? Maybe he wasn't sure which was the right one so he figured both would be a safe bet.[:D]
