Got permiss on Sunday to dig a wood liner I probed out last year. Returned on Monday and started out about 10 am and quit at 6pm. Returned the next day and finished her up. No WOW factors other than sheer volume of glass. The bottle goddess must have heard my grumblings of those stingy pontiled pits with little glass! I broke 2 records and set one new one. I dug 60 plain 3 piece mold salve jars, besting my record from last year by double when I quit counting. Must have been nearly 200 total jars by the end! Broke my record of 22 embossed bottles of same product (Tarrent's) from same hole, set last year as well. This time it was 36 Chamberlains colic, cholera and diarrhea remedys! All the smallest size, until the very last one, #37, was a 50 cent size! Go figure! Then there were 20 Duffy's Malt Whiskeys, and 10 De Lacy's Hair Tonics! 66 total bottles of 3 products! That's not counting the broken damaged ones! SHEESH!

A close up pic of the more diverse finds.....found a dozen local pharms with about 8 in different styles or sizes I didn't have, so that is always a welcome find. One of my favs is the gilt edge dressing shoe polish. Never dug one before and always wanted to ever since I was a kid and saw one for the first time. No big deal $ wise, but still has a cool factor. Hard to see are the 2 frags on top right. One was a peacock blue Ayer's Hair Vigor neck. Never found the rest of the bottle, and of course I have to question the bottle goddess why the common De Lacy's couldn't have been the Ayers? At least ONE? Next to it (and kept me going to the bottom and looking hard) is a key molded half pint flask with PA. in the oval. Could have been a double eagle, Pikes Peak, or? Still have yet to dig my first half pint historical or pictorial flask. Soon, I hope! Also have a mystery piece that I will add later when I photo it. A very strange looking thing that has us stumped......Jack

Jack my Man, thanks for another TERRIFIC dig story. What a hole, finding all those bottles. Sort of reminds me of the time I found so many PISO'S CUREs in one hole. That's why I like dig stories so much, it brings back fond memories to this Old Man. [:D]

at least you found some neat old bottles in that hole so it was worth digging up . I broke a record today when swimming , found over 50 plus modern beer bottles around this one dock , all going in the glass recycling too dirty to even return for deposit . I figured i'd take them out of the lake for sake of cleaning it up if nothing else . but no old bottles in that location at all

Some people on here will die for those Duffy's. Every one is at a different level of digging/collecting.The diversity of bottle digging, gotta love it [:D]
