This weekend I got 2 old bottles out of Lake Superior, will post pics when I can get them, but one is a bit of a mystery: The bottom is embossed "Zenith City Bottling Wks." around the outer edge, and a big "Z" is embossed in the middle. There is a faint, off-center "Z" underneath that, that looks like a first try at the the embossing. I think I've seen people on this forum call it "ghosting", but it is the same mark, just off-center. The bottle is a heavy aqua soda, seam stopping mid-neck, well-done crown top lip, but the bottom is very uneven, and the glass is alot thicker up one whole side of the bottle. Lots of bubbles throughout. I can find references on the internet to Duluth being nicknamed "Zenith City" in the late 1800s, but I can't find anything on Zenith City Bottling Wks. Does anybody know anything about them? Years they were in business, etc...?
