This is the crystal pitcher I dug a few days ago in the privy. It is in two pieces but fits back together. It weighs close to 6lbs. It has some awesome detail. farmgal

There you go! Nice find, if only that pitcher could talk! Try a brillo pad, but go light. If that doesn't work try CLR or something.

Thats a nice piece of cut glass it looks like the typical 1880s-1900 style. Its a nice piece that I would have glued back together anyday.

Thanks...I'm quite proud of it...I found the top first and it wasn't for hours that I found the base. Any idea what kind of glue I should use after I get it more cleaned up? 1880's 1900...Wow I've joined the elite privy diggers...I'll take pics of the other two clear pitchers I found....farmgal...

I just use elemers glue to glue glass and ceramics. you should tape the piece together for a few days while the glue drys but it will hold well and if you ever want to take the piece back apart you just soak it over night in water and it comes apart easily. So what is the privy your digging lined with? Brick, stone, wood? can you get some pictures of the dig I always ejoy seeing privy digs.

Hey chris...Well the privy was concrete slab ontop...sledge hammered thru that...So now it is just dirt. I've found bits and pieces of older concrete/cement...But so far it is just dirt. This is my first privy..And I've only dug down about 3-4feet. I had to cover it over now due to rain and snow. Temps are going to be in the 20's...sigh. Thanks for asking! farmgal...It's on our property...
