Ok, as some of you well know by now, I'm new and somewhat clueless, thanks to a lot of you though I'm learning fast. So here it is. I was on a hunt for knowledge at some of our local antique stores regarging all my new dug finds. Most of you say to get out and look and feel the glass. So I did. Then I saw it. How many of us inexperienced people do this? Probably a lot. I bought it. I'll tell you the price after I find out wether it was worth it. The store owner knew about as much as I did.[&:] She did note that the top/neck is crooked somewhat, and has a pontil. The decanter is hand painted, there are 2 small chips missing on the paint. Otherwise every imperfction, bubble, dent and other marks are natural to the decanter. As always, thanks and all info welcome. Christine

It's a decanter, and I would say it's Victorian, c. 1880 to 1900.

My guess would also be 1880s +/- . Its decent quality, they went to the trouble to polish the pontil mark. Bubbles in the glass were not desireable at the time it was made. I see similar ones fairly often. Not a high value item in general.

Alright then, so was $22.00 too much? It was worth it to me. As always, thanks. Christine
