Picked up this 15 inch tall bottle with crown on base at a very affordable price which makes me think it's a repro. Does anyone have any info on this one. Origin, maker, age?
I did a quick search in Betty Zumwalt's book and did not find your bottle but from it's appearance I would think it is NOT a repro. It has the look of an 1860 - 70 pickle to me and it would not surprise me any to find it is either Canadian or British. It's VERY nice looking. Jim
Hello. I agree with botlguy, it is a realy, looks a lot like the Gold Fields pickles they find in Australia. I think for sure its british or maybe Australian.........very nice pickle for no embossing or designs.
English Pickle bottle dating around 1860 - 1870 and more than likely Batty,s Crown pickles. I have found similar but with the crown embossed on the shoulder of the bottle
Well I have two of them of different sizes here in Florida. One is 12" high and similar, but no crown. Another is ten inches and triangular in stead of square. It could of held olives at one time. Yours looks good to me. RED Matthews
