    The pictorial bottle is in fact a bottle for "velvet reviver " although some dodgy UK sellers on ebay call them ginger beers They date 1900 - 1920 and are found from time to time The other is a ginger beer dating 1890- 1900

    Your codd by the description sounds like one of the modern types from India probably no older than the 60s .70s They still use these bottles in parts of india today ,,value approx $10.00 more for Novelty value

    Hi Warren the ones we get in the Uk are normally straight sided pots with a groove about 1/2 inch from the top .. Maybe they needed a stornger seal for the long sea journey to the US then if you ever get a top even in bits would be interesting to see

    These pots were Normally sealed with wax paper tied around the neck of the pot Have never seen a top for one ,,we dig a fair few in the UK ,,the pot you have is a totally different shape to UK pots so i might be wrong about the stopper Would like to see one if you come across one

    These bottles didnt contain absinthe im afraid ,,but did contain an aniseed flavoured spirit ,,it is still sold today in the UK Pernod i think was a French company ,we also dig a few of these sealed types

    WEEKEND DIGGING PICS!

    All you need is a good strong fork & preferably a round mouth shovel ,, cut yourself a good 5 foot sqaure hole and try to get to the bottom of the tip if you can after a while your eyes will adapt to see any odd shape items in the soil ash ..check out the video...
