Absolutely fabulous collection! Just about every type of bottle I lust for is there!

Help for a lovely lady, please.

Thank you all. I gave the information to my friend, who was excited to have it. I did a "completed" search on eBay and found that in May three of these bottles had come up for auction. One started at 19.95, one at 9.99, and one at 8.99. None received a bid. I saw no point in telling her that...

A walk on the the beach brings home a nice collection of agate and geodes!!

Thanks! It was a pretty good b'day, though I have seen a depressing number of them. I bought (in Eureka Springs, AR) a new field hat and an amber strap-sided quart BIM flask that turned out to be my b'day presents. Wife got off easy - no shopping for me. Dave

The segmented cylindrical fossils are pieces of crinoid stem. Crinoids, or sea lilies, are animals that look kinda like flowers. They had long stems and "heads" that are a little like a feathery anemone.

Help for a lovely lady, please.

Thanks for the info. I won't see the owner until the first week of June, so if anyone has anything to add it will be appreciated. Dave

Help for a lovely lady, please.

A friend of mine is a wonderful, warm, lovely lady. Life has given her some burdens that she did not count on in anticipation of her "golden years." She has a bottle that was given her by a relative who is no longer in her life. It means a great deal to her. Furthermore, she is fascinated by its...

    Is it dishonest?

IMHO it is absolutely dishonest to picture a wet bottle without mentioning that it was photographed wet. I have bought and sold gemstone rough on the Bay and know that disclosing that the specimen(s) is wet is an absolute ethical necessity.

    OLD TOWN SITE

Those pictures make my mouth water. Did you see any sign of digging? If not, you're really on to something. Congratulations!

    OLD TOWN SITE

I don't doubt that there's a lot of Rhus toxicodendron around, but that's not it. That's Virginia creeper. Poison Ivy has three leaflets.

    "The Story of Us"

Yep. I feared that it might be revisionist, that is, the idea that progress and betterment results from broad social movements rather than by the actions of individuals. My fears were groundless. The program said that 25,000 colonists died in the Revolutionary War. Amazing in such a new...

    Bottle values

I think you averaged out pretty well if the bottles are blown in mold. I can tell you that you couldn't buy a Paine's around here for $5.00 (or probably $10 either.) Maybe they are more common in other areas. I think Paine's is a nice looking bottle. If it's in nice shape I think you did just...

    Removing wire bails....

That's one of my very favorite birds. I never tire of watching them soar. I've thought about reincarnating as one, but I'm not so sure about eating rotten meat![:'(][:D]

    Hostetter's Stomach Bitters

I should have added, it's a real nice specimen!
