    What is this? Fire grenade?

My dad recently found this with some bottles that he traded with a guy that didn't know what this was either. It is 3 1/2 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches tall. Looks like a four piece mold (2 on the neck). It has really thick glass on the bottom and is a light olive or yellow olive color. Is...

Pontiled Seal Demijohn, Old or New?

Wow, yes it is almost identical to the Jamestown item, thanks Matt! I figured it was new when I bought it for a few bucks but I wanted to make sure I wasn't sitting on something valuable. Will be good to keep around to remind me what new glass looks like. Thanks again.

Pontiled Seal Demijohn, Old or New?

Thanks, good to know. Any idea what kind of people / organizations are making these?

Pontiled Seal Demijohn, Old or New?

Any thoughts on the age or origin of this bottle? It is pontiled and measures about 6 3/4" tall. Although it has a couple pieces of fire brick in the glass and scratches on the bottom, it almost looks too clean and not crude enough to be very old? The seal appears to depict a crest of some sort...

    Iler's Bottles , any info?

I found the Eagle Gin, and a week later got the Malt Whiskey. They are both Iler's bottles, from the Willow Springs Distillery in Omaha. I can find lots of info on the distillery, but no info or value on these bottles. They are SCA, pretty tall, I like the Eagle Gin because it's shaped like a...

    neat soda

Cool, so you've dug hutch sodas with this same name from Hammond, Ind.? But you think this one might be a beer? Do you think he could have done both? Thanks!

    bitters question

RE: new bitters There are a few references to it via a google search, but I didn't see any indicators of rarity. I like it though!

    neat soda

Thanks for the comments. I'm crossing my fingers it's a soda as I purchased a couple crowntops with the same name / town that look like sodas, though they could also be beers. Yeah the color is what hooked me too!

    neat soda

One of my favorite bottles, found at an auction a month or so ago. Does this appear in any books? What are the best books to have besides Matt's? I was thinking of buying the spectrum of Digger O'Dell books, any suggestions? Thanks!

    Nasal Douche bottle

For a laugh on Nasal douching, search youtube for "neti pot" How to Irrigate your Nasal Passages is particularly funny. Interesting that it's been in the news as becoming more and more popular at spas and the like. Also check out wikipedia article "Oxygen bar" where they point out the...

    stoneware insulaters?

wow Matt that's a real neat one. I don't have my porcelain insulator books handy but every porcelain shape has a different number, assigned by collectors. Some are much more rare than others, and like bottles, they are often fairly common in one color (usually a form of brown) and the price can...

    3 Jamica Gingers

Wow never heard of a pontiled McMillan & Kester's, were they blown in S.F.? I suppose that would help explain the high price for the pontiled one...

    stoneware insulaters?

P.S. I believe the porcelain insulator you have there would have been used for power lines, the cable would have sat in the saddle groove on top. I also think it is called an eared or helmet insulator, for obvious reasons, and they are in general tougher to find than many other porcelain...

    stoneware insulaters?

Hi there, cool finds. Usually we refer to them as porcelain, and they are generally, but not always, more modern and more common than the glass ones. That one you have there is a shape a little different than any I have, pretty neat. The glass one looks like a common 'pony' insulator as they...
