Someone is selling these old bottles close to where I live. Is $5 a good price in that condition?

No, not at all! We have members from all over the world. This forum was actually started by a British man if I remember correctly. Stick around, it's a great place![:)]
I don't know about that one specifically, but that general shape of bottle was used by many companies. Among these were Coca-Cola imitator Kel-Ola and the Spring Water Bottling Works, a Niagara Falls bottler.
RED, I have to ask... Did you ever make a Niagara Dry bottle? I don't know what glass factory made their bottles.
And Cowseatmaize, if you have any interested in selling those, let me know! I would love to own a test can.
Surfaceone, I have to ask, what the heck is that... thing in the picture? It looks like a giant human head!
I would never coat a bottle, mainly because I don't know what would happen. What does it do? Make the bottle shinier? I do paint my bottles though, although they're not original, it's...

MORB! You make me jealous sometimes, all these beautiful bottles that are local to you. One day my collection will look like yours, at least I hope so![:)]
My god.. I was reading this post, from my old account, and I realized something. That was the very rare HENRY CRONMILLER hutch from Welland/Port Colborne's only brewery! I need to get that guy's number and buy it back from him.
RCO, I would be interested in that bottle. I have one already, but mine has the top broken off. Unfotunately, it's one of the most common Niagara bottles. How much would you like to get for it?
Also, where do you live? I'd be curious as to where you found that bottle, I can't imagine they...
