Thank you for taking the time to respond! Yes, I have some bottles that are cleaned (tumbled) and some that have a ground patina (dug) that I would like to preserve. Thank you for the suggestions.

San Francisco Rx or simple OTC?

A condo for 1.7 Million. Sounds about right for San Francisco. smh Needless to say, cool bottle. I have a few medicines from the Sutter Street area. Some buildings still there. Others leveled by the earthquake and fire. Also found druggist bottle fromm Geary St. Google search revealed there is...

    Cleaning dust off old bottles

I have a few window bottles (some Stoddard liquors and some local western medicines), and they have been collecting dust since I museum waxed them in their place. What is a safe way to remove the dust without affecting the patina and surface of the glass. Mainly concerned with scratching the...

    Angry buyer...

Old thread, but I agree. Now ebay suggests you require signature confirmation when shipping USPS. This way you have an extra layer of protection and proof that the buyer received the package. No signature, no delivery.

    2 new cylinder whiskeys....

Nice bottles. I'm fairly new to still, so I'm trying to learn how to gauge bottle age. Are they from the 1880s?

    1807 Large Cent

Cleaning or altering the original surface of a coin destroys any value that coin may have. I'm an ANA life member and have collected and invested in coins since I was a child. Leave the coins as-is. ;)

    Huge Find 5/29

First off, BOOM, Baby! Secondly... If that be the case, I, too, fall into the second category. I wish to have the luck of the OP... Closest I came was finding a screw top sloans liniment bottle on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Feather River. Not rare by any means, but a thrill none...

    Huge Find 5/29

I haven't dug a bottle in my life, yet. I'm not jealous when I see extraordinary outcomes like this. I'm freakin inspired! Going to the Sierra-Nevada Mountians in a few days--home of the California Gold Rush--, and I am hopeful to have some of the OP's luck. If I find anything during my hikes...

Agreed! Permissions are essential in this day and age unless you want to end up in the slammer (not my cup of tea). everything is on private property it seems in SF or covered over by cement. If anything pops up, I will let you know. I'm keeping my eyes out for construction sites throughout...

    Northern California Diggers Check-In

I am interested in creating a local group of NEO-NORCAL diggers. I am also looking for some tutelage and hands-on experience--even if it's digging to the "use layer." I realize a lot of the SF Bay Area diggers are either retired or semi-retired from digging. But if you have dug or are...
