Dropped in at the six foot level and right on top of three embossed pontils including a liniment from Sing Sing NY. Nothing rare. Moving upstream the bank abruptly sloped down to about 18 ft. Slope was covered in boulders, sand at the bottom of slope. In this section I picked a 9-1/2" free blown...
Does anyone know what those gray colored solid cylinders with protruding flat ends on each side are that often turn up in numerous quantities while digging? Perhaps made of graphite? They are approximately 8" long with the circumference of about a silver dollar. Sorry don't have a picture.
Alright whose been digging test pits all over the place out here? Pretty cool to see someone digging my haunt but please fill in your holes. Especially at that old farm dump on the M&M before the land owner shuts down the section of trail.
Thinking about starting a collection of meds aimed at curing anxiety. Is their some sort of list out there, or could someone point me in a direction to start. Also what words would have been associated with anxiety in the 19th century? THANKS,-Mason
Spent this past Sunday diving a central Massachusetts river in search of glass. First two finds were heartbreakers...a pontiled ATWOOD'S BITTERS broken off from the shoulder up and a VEGETABLE / BITTERS - Dr. MOWES' - LOWELL MASS. missing the bottom and a side panel. I believe this was pontiled...
I have way too many bottles kicking around so I have decided to sell the commons. Renting space in an antique shop is too much money so I posted them on craigslist. Boxes of 20 bottles for $40 a box. Does this seem like a good price? Heres the link:http://westernmass.craigs...rg/atq/4331755493.html
You guys weren't kidding when you told me about this stuff. I wasn't sure how long to leave the bottles in it but as I dunked the first one I watched the caked on black river ick just "melt" off the bottle! Thank You forum!!!
I would call this the best Stoddard piece I have found. Its 4 1/4" tall by 1 5/8" wide and honey amber in color. I have found OP flared lip utilities like this but larger and olive amber in color. Can the color be used to determine the glasshouse? Has a bit of "rust" on it which I haven't tried...
This is a bubbly New England glasshouse ale bottle. The base shows blue that is not just on the surface but seems to actually be the color of the glass. The picture shows the blue at the middle of the base but there are more "rings" of blue on the outer parts of the base. I was shining a...
How rare is it to come by an old bottle mold. Were most of them destroyed? Were they wood or steel or what was most common? Any info or links to info would be greatly appreciated.
Spotted these on the side of the local market yesterday. The guy working let me climb up onto the roof and unscrew them. They had the hard threaded rubber/plastic on them but I took it off as I didn't realize what it was for. I think they look better without it anyway. Anyone know what the B...
Looks like it was for vinegar? Glass is clear. Stopper has what looks like a three piece mold while I don't see any mold lines on the main piece.[attachment=IMG_2489.JPG][attachment=IMG_2491.JPG]
3 1/2" base width. Triple sunken panels with a great little design stenciled around them. Really thick glass especially on the base.[attachment=MYSTERY_SHARD_1.jpg] [attachment=MYSTERY_SHARD_2.jpg] [attachment=MYSTERY_SHARD_3.jpg]
Forgot when I found this one. It reads REGISTERED / (arc) ALBANY STEAM / BOTTLINGWORKS / MANCHESTER / BRANCH / (arc) MANCHESTER,N.H. / THIS BOTTLE / NOT TO BE SOLD. Anyone seen it before??[attachment=MANCHESTER_BOTTLING_WORKS.jpg]
[attachment=MCMUNNS_OPIUM.jpg]366 Dr. McMunn's Elixir of Opium vials from a dump the length of about a football field. Been pulling them up since 2010...I often get bored picking them up or don't have a bag so I fill my pockets or leave piles behind. All smooth base. As you can see there is lots...
