There is a small town about 15 miles away that has never been dug. There were a number of Druggists in that town and would love to find a drugstore bottle for that particular town. It was founded in 1869 so it's plenty old enough.
Driving through the small town I noticed this limestone 2 story and it had a date on it that was 1880. I asked permission to probe the backyard and they quickly said sure!! Have at it!! While talking to them they mentioned it use to be a hotel back when it was first built. So as I was probing the backyard I noticed a slight dip in the ground so I probe it and there it was. I found the hotel pit. I dug down about 3 1/2 feet from wall to wall and it's a stone liner! Took my 4 ft probe and probed down and still couldn't touch bottom. It measures 3ft wife and 12ft long and probably 9-12 ft deep. Hope it's going to be a good one. Digging it this weekend with some help.
Attached below is a picture of the hotel
Have a feeling it's going to be a good one once I get down to the old layer!
