1/2 gallon Ball jar question

I got 6 of these 1/2 gallon Ball jars ~ According to "How to Date Ball Fruit Jars" by Bob Clay, judging by the logo they were made between 1923-1933; I'm confused because they're square which didn't come out until 1942, am I not understanding something right? Any help at all is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I think you got your dates mixed up a bit. Square jars were around long before 1942. So yes, your half gallon Ball jars were made between 1923 and 1933. I think the rounded-square shape became the norm some time in the 1940's, not sure it was so early as 1942. Guess I'll have to look it up. Will let you know what I find. -Tammy

Thank you very much Tammy, I think I was confused with the square & square round shape. I'm a newbie so I find myself confused quite frequently while I'm researching & trying to learn more, thanks for the reply!
