stonebottle ~ (I like the name).

According to Bill Porter's book both the 1915 and 1923 bottles list as scarce. With the 6 1/2 oz as unknown to exist. The other three bottles are basically common. As for value ... it's hard for me to say. But usually any bottle from a low production bottler with a high demand in collecting are always worth more. Even though scarce, (which isn't x-rare or rare) the Utica N.Y. should be worth at least $35.00+ don't ya think? I'm not sure, but at least that much I'd say. ???

Thanks for stopping by. And good hunting!

Bob: That is very good news. Thanks for the quick reply. My name on here comes from what I know and collect, that is the early "primitive" type American stoneware bottles. Your help is appreciated. stonebottle

I hope Wheelah23 doesn't mind this. It's his thread. But I think if that were the case, I'd be in trouble already.

Anyway, I forgot to mention that I have a 1915 from Buffalo, N.Y. If you and/or your brother are interested in my bottle, and you have a nice 1915 from California, maybe we can talk about a trade. The Buffalo bottle I have is in great shape. (See below). Let me know via a PM if you are interested.

Thanks,

Base ... the bottle has a lot of cool, tiny bubbles.

Wheelah23 ~ Thanks

Not always. Older bottles are generally harder to come, but only because of lower production. But according to Bill's book it appears it's really the small town bottles that are the rarest. Meaning there are a lot more 1915s from New York city than there would be from Buffalo. Thus my Buffalo bottle would be the rarer of the two. So it's not just the date that makes one rarer than another, but a combination of date and location. For example; all five (including the 1915) of the New York city bottles in Bill's book are listed as common. Which means there were tons of them then, and still are.

I hope this helps.

Speaking about old cokes, I have three crudely embossed amber cokes from Nashville, Tn.
on the bottom it has ROOT embossed faintly.
You guys know how old they are and what the value of one is?

I love the chart below. It will give you a general idea of bottlers over the years. Check it out.

Personally, I'm going to step back on this one and hope one of our Tennessee experts sees this and steps forward. Some of the Coca Cola bottles are out of my league. But I do know when it comes to values that condition - condition - condition is a huge factor regarding any bottle.
