Finally. Here is a super cool outside casing (apparently made by Gorham). This just sold on ebay for $75 plus shipping. This came out of an attic not a river.
FAR OUT! MAN WHAT A STORY !UNREAL HOW IT SURVIVED IN THE WATER ALL THAT LONG! AFTER YOU FOUND OUT BOUT WHAT THE COP SAID WAS YOU KINDA SCARED TO GO BACK IN CASE YOU DID FIND SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CRIME? VERY ENJOYABLE STORY! IN ONE OF THE ADS YOU SHOWED IT SAID IT WAS "DURABLE" ,MAN THEY HAD NO IDEA HOW DURABLE!! THE CASE FROM EBAY DON'T LOOK LIKE YOURS. MAYBE THEY THREW AWAY THE REST ,BUT KEPT THE FANCY CASE TO PUT ANOTHER NEW ONE IN? JAMIE
Hey Jamie,
I guess I would not let fear of finding the gun stop me from going back. All things considered, the officer was perfectly nice. If it would have been a real gun, I would have turned it over.
You're right. It is durable. It also mentions that it doesn't need renewing and that it lasts 8-12 months. This thing smelled strongly of mint over 100 years later! I wonder if being sealed off like that underwater somehow preserved the contents? The bottom of the brass piece is closed off but the glass is hollow on both ends. There was a cork that held two silver ends and a coil in place inside the tube.
Yeah the bullet is Live..i will have to find it and take pics..i have too much crap ..You sure got some great feedback on that thing..cant belive the paper made it ..thats just crazy
Yea. It's nice when you can actually find something out about the company like that. Take your time on the glass bullet but please post a picture when you find it! (You'd think that the gunpowder in the shell would explode the glass right in your face???)
WONDER WHY A COIL? TO PUSH SOMETHING FORWARD? THE VICKS INHALERS FROM THE 60S ONLY HAD A SORTA COMPRESSED COTTON LIKE SUBSTANCE INSIDE THAT HAD MENTHOL IN IT ALONG WITH BENZODRINE,WHICH IS A FORM OF SPEED . JAMIE
