Purchased in 1977 from US Army Europe Class VI store. The Jamaican rum & French Cognac was very good as I recall. I have the empties (5 in all). According to the legend, in the late 1940's, Delva Distillery was commissioned to bottle the liquor (some 250,000 gallons in Oak casks) from the booze the allies found in the village of Nettuno, Italy. At the end of WWII, it seems rail took the bottles to Linz, Austria where the Austrian Government took control and it was 1976/7 when US Army Europe purchased for resale 18K bottles of Rum & Cognac.
They did have reproduction labels that went over the bottles. I may have them somewhere, but can not find them now. Under the repro labels are the originals. Some original Delva labels were in pretty good shape some were not.
Does anyone know the value of these bottles or any information of how many survived since 1977? Any info would be helpful.
I may sell these or put up for auction--not sure yet
