An odd beauty

Anyone have any ideas? It was marketed as a "saddle bottle" - It has a huge applied ring, and is pontiled with lots of imperfections. It's a dark purple and stands about 16". Looks great in the sun, but is it something other than a modern flower vase made old world style?​
