I was cleaning out the tool box on my truck bed yesterday. I cleaned out some trash, re-organized some tools, threw out bottles that never made it inside. I found this in there lying under some stuff, not sure what it is. It is one of those things I picked up while wading in the Auglaize river. I doubt it is anything bottle related, I am thinking a shim of some kind. I could be wrong, which I often am, so I will let you all make a guess. Have a good one people.

My guess is an old buoy or float that got waterlogged and sank. Maybe it was a swimming area marker?

Looks like a nail up insulator bracket to me.

Sloughduck - I can see the resemblance to a side bracket, but a bracket would have one flat side and probably holes drilled for the nails (to avoid splitting the wood -- although some very old ones weren't drilled). The pin section to hold the insulator would be much longer than the little stub that this piece has.
