Never seen this one before

I found this guy the other day. I am trying figure out what it is made out of. It is bot porcelain or glass. So I was hoping somebody has seen it before and might have some info. It is like a plastic or composite type material.

From your description I would think it might be Bakelite or something similar.

Not a word yet; some kind of thermo-plastic probably.
The fractures are interesting; wonder how much it weighs.

It's a porcelain pin insulator used in electrical distribution systems.

Very interesting. Tom Katonik had one similar on display in Springfield a couple of years ago.
I assume this was found in the US?
Odd question, what noise does it make when something is tapped against it?
