Hello Ian. We find simalar stoneware pieces in central new york where we dig as well. We have found a variety of them from cheeze, cottage cheeze, jam and some blank ones that simply say this not to be sold on the bottom. They were packaging for whatever the label was from late 1800's to early 1900's and range in value by size and labeling.

G'day Ian

Appears Australian (Queensland??) origin - any idea of age?

Have you access to trade or postal directories (e.g. Pugh's) - there may be a listing under "Jam Manufacturers" or "Grocers".

Cheers,

Dirranbandi
