I'm totally guessing here, maybe it is an oil/vinager server.
Does it have any markings on the bottom, and/or is the bottom even or pushed up?

you guys are funny... I thought it was a bong too...
it's about 8 1/2 inches tall and almost 5 inches wide at the bottom.
and it has a slight indented bottom

It definatley looks like some kind of wine carafe to me to as Brian said, although a little more out of shape than any I've ever seen..

I got it from an Antique shop in Mchenry IL, the guy there said he didnt know what it was but that the seller had dug it up and brought it into the shop to sell with some of his other stuff that he sells there. Not much info. So, I couldnt get over how much it looked like a bong.... he he... so I bought it.. paid $35 bucks. (BTW:I'm a non smoker)
