The guy who fixed our furnace told me a few months back that he was getting a huge collection of old bottles at some point. I followed up yesterday, and told him I'd come over and tell him if there were any valuable ones. It was about 500 bottles maybe, they had been dug and washed, and hadn't been picked through yet, so it was fun to look at them and tell him what he had.

They were all cork top, mostly 1890s, but there were a total of 5 pontils mixed in, with the best by far being an iron pontil Weavers Canker and Salt Rhuem. He also had about a 4" amber rectangular poison. I told him those were his best two.

He had about 40 Gordons Dry Gins! Tons of blob tops and strap sided pints etc. Lots of extracts and Johnsons Liniments etc.

I borrowed two bottles to post on here because I've never seen them before.

I'm not in to milks, but I'd love to get an explanation on this one ! Its busted up pretty good, but it has no company name, just "capacity 7 oz., and a patent number, and the large embossed number "400" on both sides, and on the base !

I googled a little, and it looks like it could have something to do with a railway line somewhere. Any info ?

The other one I haven't seen before is a really cool beer bottle from Philly. I told him I'd post it to see the value on it, if anyone knows.

Continental Brewery Philidelphia, with a soldier embossed

He gave me this SSP bottle for doing the appraisal. I've never seen one in this color, have you guys? I'm seen a bunch in clear, and a few in seven up green, but not this light olive color

I did a trade with him that I thought was good for both of us. I gave him this bottle out of my collection that I dug about 10 years ago, the only other one I've seen before sold on Ebay a ways back for about 110 bucks. It's a little tool top cylinder, embossed "Funten - Animal Bait" . The guy collects hunting a fishing stuff. So he'll probably like it.

I'm also giving him a Moxie

Appreciate any info on the first too, thanks.

Happy New year
