WOW..that's some pile of glass!!! I love that glass ant eater. Tell him I'd give him $15.00 for that orange insulator + shipping. I noticed a tag on it saying 15 .

1st question, is anything available? As you have shown the same insulators in several shots (not a complaint) it's a bit difficult to assess the size of that accumulation. (It's not a collection) There are some very nice pieces here and there, could be some money pieces amoung the litter. Most look quite common. The piece deenodean mentioned is a commerative, not one used on lines.

Oddly enough, some of the best pieces are in the buckets. The opelecent straight sided piece on a shelf is a good one. I think your best bet is to get an experienced insulator collector to go through there with you if you are able to pick and choose. If you have to take them all you should get them for 5 cents apiece and throw in the slag buckets. I'm not kidding. The low end stuff MAY be worth 25 to 50 cents to a dollar but it is almost impossible to sell it. Some / much of that stuff is truly unsaleable. If you wanted to start a big collection in a hurry this might be worth 25 cents apiece with you keeping most of it. That's still going to cost you a bundle and you'll never get your money back.

That's my input, perhaps others will have a different slant. Also, there is some other really good stuff mixed in there, that Goofus Glass is marketable as is the Head Vase. I would really enjoy picking this place if the seller were motivated.

Thanks for the info, I dont think he is real motivated at this point and he still is in love with most of his stuff. He did point out the commerative pieces (has a dozen or so) and said the tags were what he paid for them in the 70's-80's. The opalecent ones (he has 5 intact with from light to heavy opal) he was asking between 25 and 100 depending on how stromg the colors. I never got into what any others were worth with him. As to the "goofus glass" is that the lizard looking bottle (3rd picture down 2nd group)? if so it had a crack in the neck or I would have snagged it as thats the sort of weird stuff that catches my eye. I did get a 3/4 piece of a straight side opal insulator from the bucket to go with the slag glass I got the other day for a buck. LOL also picked up a whitehouse vinegar bottle i didn't have, again paid a little more than usual but have been invited back to see his kids collection down the road ( is the really good stuff according to him). Again thanks for the comments.

Wow Cor, what a cool discovery. I'd be having fun with that!! The Mason Pat / the milk glass swirl is a winner. I've been thinking that when I have more time to invest in my jars, I'm gonna sell most of them and just go after swirl (bi colored jars).

The goofus glass are the vase type vessels with the rose and grape patterns. One is painted gold and red, some are colorless clear glass, at least one is Milk Glass. There are a coule of similar less ornate pieces upsie down that may be pretty good also.

I think you are wise to go slow, the prices sound pretty top dollar so unless you really want them they are probably available elsewhere.

Thanks for sharing, it's been fun picking vicariously.

Holy smokes, what a pile of stuff.

Jim (Botlguy) has given you some good advice there. I don't see anything that is mind-blowing but there are some insulators in the 5-30 dollar range. The opals are very good items, book is 75-200 depending on intensity of color (I didn't see any particularly strong ones, so think lower end of that range), but condition is always a huge factor for those; the glass is very soft, almost "crumbly" when chipped and tends to discolor easily, too, so unless they're pristine they won't sell anywhere close to book price. The commemoratives rarely appreciate much and won't sell for more than the owner paid for them. The rest of the insulators look like a mixed bag -- mostly common, the type I'd give away at a show. I'm sure in that accumulation there are somewhat interesting embossing variations or uncommon types that don't have lots of dazzle. As Jim said, it would require an experienced person to evaluate and make a decent offer but it doesn't sound like the owner's too eager to consider that.
