I picked up this decanter today at a shop. Got a good deal because the top is broken off. I have the top, and the old pressed stopper. What I don't know is should I repair this or is it not worthy? Also, what would this sell for if unbroken? I think it's a GIII-15 if I'm not mistaken. I've always loved the blown three mold patterns. Wish I owned more.

It's 8-1/4 " tall if it wasn't broken, appears to be a quart.

base shot.

I have been reading a bit about these decanters in American Glass but haven't digested it all yet. There's a lot to learn. The glass is clear with very little tint to it. Anyway, if anyone has any insights, please chime in. Even though it's broken I like it.

Nice Paul, I would keep it it looks like an easy repair. I know most of the repair experts use Hxtal http://www.hxtal.com/ it is the best product for glass simulation however for a cheaper alternative non yellowing epoxy I have had great success with this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/310183664058?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 It takes about 6 hours to cure for allowing contact. It will also hide and go into cracks and in some cases the cracks disappear altogether.

Is the stopper ground and did they do that on the originals? I can't remember.
That pattern that was reproduced. Until you find out for sure I'd hold off on putting a bunch of cash into it.
Just thinking out loud.

Hi Paul, Your bottle is lot more rare then you thought and is definitely worth the repair. Mckearin lists this bottle as the GIII-15 as you correctly stated and quart sized WITHOUT the three rings. The key word in the charts being without. With the three rings is not an option. In a nutshell at the time of the printing of his book " American Glass" George Mckearin was not aware one of these three ringed versions of the GIII-15 had been made. If I was to guess at a place of manufacture Sandwich or The New England Glass Company were likely culprits. I feel you have an unlisted rare bottle on your hands well worth the repair and the stopper is of the type found on these bottles . Could be worth the sky is the limit to someone who collects these. Congratulations on a nice pick up!!
