Well Paul I have to agree with Steve. I have one neat pitcher made in the three part mold system – and I love it even if it has an in the glass stress crack. It hasn't grown in the last ten years.
But, it does represent an important stage in mans development of making things our of glass.

Isn't it more like a GIII-5?
It is Eric, every aspect but the sunburst design. The GIII-5 has the Sunburst Motif #1 and the GIII-15 has the sunburst Motif #5 there in lies the difference. I think he has a rare bottle.

Paul might have a variant of the GIII-5 Eric unknown to the Mckearins or an unknown variant of the GIII-15. I think at the least his bottle is quite rare because if this decanter was mass produced I believe one example would have shown up before the printing of Mckearins book. As for the place of manufacture again the clear color points towards Boston and Sandwich or The New England Glass Company instead of Keene New Hampshire or Mt Vernon New York the other makers of this kind of decanter. It certainly is worth the repair.

Thanks Steve, I see that now.
I was still kind of wondering about whether the throat and stopper are ground also. I think the English and or the French liked them and made some in the mid to late Victorian era. That would fit in better with a ground stopper closure.
