Hey everyone, one of my dad's friends dredges for oysters in the bayous and bays down here (Louisiana) and he caught the following bottle: The measurements, then pics to follow are; 12" tall, 7" to shoulder, 3 1/4" width, 2 3/4" pontil depth, 1 3/8" across the applied lip. The sheared top opens at 13/16" and tapers to about 3/4". The bottle is a light olive green and the surface is rough from sand action over the last cenury or two. The remnants in the pontil appear to be white barnacle remnants. There are no marks except for one oblong circle on the side of the bottle, which will be in two of the pics. Any history, type, or value would be appreciated. Thanks, Shane

Also, I can't find any seams on the bottle, though they may be obscured.

The pontil barely visible through the rough exterior, and the odd, oblong mark:

Close-up of the odd mark, which may be a chip?

dshaneb, this bottle looks like a free-blown wine bottle (probably mid-late 1800's). That mark looks like a surface air bubble that was broken open.

Looks like a wine or ale, kick-up base I guess it to be a spun in mold bottle with no apperant mold seems. Not sure on exact date, maybe 1880'ish I may be wrong value is maybe $10 to $15 dshaneb. Just my guess I may be wrong though. Pettydigger
p.s. can someone let me know if my new signature is working proper[:D] Thanks

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I thought the sheared top and applied lip placed it late 1860s or earlier from different things I've read, but I guess that could have been done much later by certain companies. I had a feeling it was a wine or gin. Thanks for the info. :)

Pettydigger, your little troll with his sign and info appears to be working right with the correct info. [:D]

EDIT: now it changed to a rat, hmm...
