I was thinking about all the dumps Iv'e dug over the years and I rarely find the killer colors, is it because they are so rare, or did people keep them or did they get dug already and I'm digging tailing piles[;)], I dig the 4 common colors , shades of green , blue, clear and brown, and those white ones

Hi Caretaker ,
It's probably because certain color variants are rare. That's why the price of a bottle can increase greatly when it is found in a color variant....because of the rarity of that color in that mold .
But you have to be careful.... As a common color for one bottle may be rare for a different bottle. For example ..... A Greeley's Bitters barrel in Aqua( a usually common color for other bottles ). Will bring 10 + times the price that an Amber example would at auction. So a common color for one bottle may be an extremely rare color for another bottle .
Keep diggin ' ! Brian
