I was digging in a muddy pit and found many old bottles. Late 1800´s and early 1900´s.
Two ones are strange for me. The amber one embossed on base "13" and the light green "M" / "181"
Any idea of the origin, contained, etc.?

Here´s the base and top. It has to mold seams, runnig from the base to neck, that end near the finish.
The finish was made with added glass.

The Other One

This beatifull light green glass is stranger than the amber one. Unfortunatly it´s broken into fragments. Just found two more but don´t complete the unit. It mighte be less than 10" tall (THe amber one is 10" tall).
By comparisson this base is in different shape.
Ifound them under near two feet of a putrit mud and this under similar amount of water. It was possible to find them with my bare feet. The broken one made me some cuts on my right foot when found and while took it across the mud.
A very cold pool of water in the souther Argentinien Patagonia.
Thanks in advance.
Alex.

RE: The Other One

cool looking whatever they are , some type of liquor I would guess.

Do you have any penguins helping you dig?

WOW ! ! That amber one is nice, appears to be vintage 1860 - 1870 but could be some later if manufactured some place other than the U.S.A. The light green one would be every bit as nice I'm betting.

Don't have a good feel for what they might have held originally but perhaps liquor of some sort, possibly medicine.

Be careful using those penquins to help dig, our SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) will be on you big time if they hear that one is hurt.

The amber one looks more like a bitters than anything else.

Thenk you.
They are from Europe i guess. Think between 1870,s and late 1800,s.
The weather like aufull almost every day. Too much winny, coldy all thetime. That,s why it´s still possible to stand where nobody stand for many years!

Hi Alex. I've read some of the history of Patagonia, thank goodness for Wikipedia.Evidently there was a trail cattle rustlers used to take and trade the cattle for goods, mainly alcoholic beverages, mid to late 1800's.Charles Darwin took a look around there too.At any rate, from the little bit I did read, the rustlers traded with the British.Your bottles could be related to that.I hope this helps.

Good point of view, Bobble.
I think it was dismissed by a german pioneer who came in 1870´s from Punta Arenas (Chile).
Found in an old map a house that may existed till 1910´s. The glass is the only thing that survive.
Found dozens of bottles in that place, but these two are the unique in its kind.
You gave me a new point of view to the patagonian history. Thanks! Alex.
