Hi everyone! My husband and I love digging up the glass soda bottles in our "secret spot" but we always get discouraged when we find broken ones. Well, we found the solution to repurposing all those pieces. Check out my online shop. I will be listing more "tumbled glass" in the future, but here's one of my first antique soda bottle postings. http://www.etsy.com/listing/84824574/antique-broken-glass-soda-pop-bottles

People love to make pendants and wire wrappings with them. And for those people who are collectors, they may even make a mosaic, or put at the bottom of their fish tank.

I know, I'm crazy, but it makes me feel better when I find a broken one....at least this way, I don't think it's a total useless piece of glass....it just has a journey down a different path.

Keep an eye out...i will be posting more in the future if you are interested.

Ok, so it's been a while, but here are the two listings that I currently have posted for my tumbled glass chunks. I hope someone can find them useful. I should be posting more soon too....hopefully if I can find some more time. Be sure to check out the 1st link. I think to bosen bottle bottom is a rare one from what I was reading online.

Some of that "sea glass" is pretty cool I joined a S G site some time ago just to check out all the cool stuff people found on the beachs. But I prefer the un broken variety[:D]

those are nice. So many uses for broken tiles/glass/bottles etc.. wife and I had this super ugly coffee table that matched nothing..aka..it was a college leftover... we stripped it, painted it an off white/cream color and used broken glass tile and bottles to grout them into the top and then wet sanded it smooth...fun stuff.

ironmountain - that sounds like a great project and a great way to use some "leftover" stuff. I hate getting rid of things that seem so cool...like the broken glass that I have...it seems so neat even if it is broken, it would be a shame to just throw it out....so I like the idea of repurposing it into other creative things like your table.

I had put a bottle half into one of my fishtanks at one point too. It looked awesome sticking up out of the rocks when the light was on and it gave the fish somewhere to hide.

I have some other broken pieces that I am thinking I am going to wire up and make into necklace pendants too.

the ideas are ENDLESS!

Anyone else have any other ideas they want to share....or stories of what they have made with broken bottle parts?

I like your Etsy site. Lot of nice stuff. I love the red and black cocktail ring.
I've recently started upcycling computer parts. I do comp. repair out of my house and have quite a few tubs full of parts. Saw a few sweet sculptures made from upcycled computer parts. Figured I'd make one too. Going to do a Master Chief helmet from Halo. Either that or a character from Skyrim.

I also have a 5gal pail full of old (1920's-ish) silver plate forks/spoons/knives. Made a ring out of one for the wife. Going to make a couple bracelets today for my daughter. pull the keys off of a keyboard that match her name, take the power leads for a floppy drive and drill holes and thread them through and connect them with the connector already on them. The other bracelet will be of 2 spoon/fork handles. cut them, work them into a rounded C shape, drill a hole on the ends of each one and run a thin silver chain through them.

Also going to make a suncatcher for her. take hard drive platters, leave them on the spindles. On the top one, put the arm that reads the platters just for deco. place in window. sparkly.

here's the ring I made for wife. I cut it with a hacksaw. Don't have a ring sizer (spindle or whatever they're called) so I used a socket to shape it. rubber mallet and a vise and done. I left it a bit beaten on the sides so it had that old look.

also going to try my hand at magazine basket making. Seems easy enough and thinking I'll make a rectangular basket so I can categorize and organize our dvd's/cd's vs having them in cd/dvd shelves.
