is this a bad find? why the silence? not sure how to interpret that!
any observations welcome. was wondering if a museum might want these...chemical museum in phila, perhaps...or am I way off base? Owner of company associated with a local university in 1900...
It's a $1 bottle if you're trying to resell it, with stuff like this people are looking for specific towns or states embossed on the bottles or rare and early pontiled meds... Jim
Hard to tell the size, but from the pic it looks like 4" or less? If so they could be sample bottles, hence the extreme # of them. Co. likely went out of business leaving one seller with a ton of worthless samples of a defunct product. If a sample, could bring $5+ apiece, if you don't flood the market. I have not seen or heard of this co. before but collect sample bottles like these, so there is a market for them... how 'bout a trade for a Duffy's (or two or three), or a dozen or so diarrhea remedys I recently dug? HAH! You beat my recent record by double! Congrats!(I think!) Jack
A bit more to add to the Cam-Phe-Nyl story...
As I posted already it was a proprietary medicine early on (1870s) developed in Easton PA.
A carbolic acid like compound so we would expect used externally.
It appears that in the 1890s was being made by A J Odenwelder also of Easton PA.
Used to kill body insects (lice?) and dental use (for people with not many real teeth left I assume)
The image was a registration in 1917 so if this is going out of business stock you are probably looking at around WWI era.
Guess I should have been more inclusive, as in this particular store could have gone out of business as well, leaving behind the samples, etc. since they look tooled top style, would guess they are likely pre ww1......
