No photo's came through but it sounds like a master ink bottle. Are there any embossments onthe bottom or front of the bottle? What does the bottom look like. Is the top applied or does the seam go all the way to the top of the lip?

The seal sounds more like an early high clase whiskey or spirits bottle. Are you from England or Europe? I notice you are talking metric. Seals on bottles in Europe were indicative of spirits for the upper class, originally royalty. Over the years many companies used the seals, an applied glob of glass, as an indicator that their booze, too, was of high quality. Philadephia had an aundance of these bottles produced during the later part of the 1800's. It would be helpful if we had a picture to look at.

Hi :- Many thanks for the swift reply
The bottle seems to be all one piece no joins, the bottom sits flat on the surface and is concave the only embossment is the seal about half way up the bottle, Now tells me that a picture is attached which may be of some help. Can add more photos if needed

From here the logo looks like a C with a T and an E in it. Can you get a closer shot of the logo? It is a most beautiful bottle. Probably not worth much, you better sell it to me. [;)]

I will agree, after looking at the logo through an editor, that it is a C surrounding an E, (or could it be an F>). Regardless, it is important to knowif this is British, American, etc.

So far, I am leaning toward a chemist beacon. The seal is important and is identifying. We need to track the seal. Here is a great site for U.S. glass manufacturering marks.

If your bottle is british, we would need to be looking in another arena.

The indented bottom is indicative of European.

Hi
As far as I know the Bottle is definitely UK but suppose could be European, The letter in the center of the C is definitely an E but with extensions to the 3 Horizontal lines protruding at the back of the vertical. Have attached a photo of the base.

I don't know! Three words I hate to say. However, a cculated guess is:
It is a wine cruet for fancy table, perhaps a college or some royalty hall. It was probably one of many found for serving guests at a banquet hall.

I make this guess based upon theindented bottom of the bottle and the pour spout coming out of the lip.

Perhaps, some more learned individual can pin point it for you.
