DUG IT UP TODAY IN FRANKLIN TN. THERE WERE ALOT MORE BOTTLES BUT I HAD TO GET OUT OF THE HOLE SO THEY COULD LAY THE ROCK FOR THE PIPE . IM NEW TO DIGGING AND TO THE FORUM AND DONT HAVE ANY BOOKS YET THANKS FOR YOUR HELP !
All I can say is it is a dang pity they didn't let you get more bottles out of that hole.. that is a valuable bottle, a historical flask.. soon you'll get the skinny on it.. but man, that's a travesty there are others, possibly as good or better than this one, under a water pipe somewhere..!!
That's a good one. There were more in there?[][][][][] Great historical flask. Your first find huh. I'm green with envy. Seriously though, they could have just covered up some rare and very desirable bottles worth some big bucks. That just means there will still be good bottles to dig for future generations though. Any way to come at that spot from the side, or underneath?[][]
Welcome to the forum Terry!,....What a way to start,...Great first find,....I think everyone is quietly cringing at the thought of what else might be down there.[] (I know I am.) Watch out though, this is an addiction posing as a hobby....Don't say I didn't warn you....
Congradulations JUNKMAN1. Great find!!!! and Welcome to the forum.
I believe what you have there is known as an American Eagle Flask, GII-118, Comparatively Scarce, according to the McClearen and Wilson "American Bottles and Flasks" book.
