Nanaimo was a coal town, so it doesnt surprise me it had a brewery. Heck, it probably had a few for all the miners.

Nice bottles! My grandfather is from nanaimo, born there around 1918-1917, I also held a fairly decent fishing community but during the second world war my grandfather was interned and the family fish store was taken away by the government. On another note my great grandmother made illegal rice wine there.

Gentlemen..........The three pictured beers are not rare....just beautiful.....The best of the three is the "full face" Phoenix....although The Union Brewery & Victoria Brewery are wonderful in their own right....It's a vacation-bottle collector thing!!! I know that others have voiced this opinion, but to find this bit of history while SCUBA diving just can't be measured....As I have said before...My bottles are in a back lit display in our dinning room....They can be dimmed for just right ambiance...while we have friends over for dinner...A glass of chardonnay & stories....[:)]
