UP FOR AUCTION IS A COLLECTABLE EXCELLENT CONDITIONED GLAZED 10 INCH BREWERY BOTTLE

THE STAMPED WRITING ON THE BOTTLE READS AND THIS CAN BE SEEN CLEARLY ON THE PICTURES BELOW:

BROWN JUG BREWERY
CHELTENHAM

AT THE BASE THE BOTTLE HAS 'POWELL' STAMPED

THE BOTTLE IS UNSCRATCHED AND HAS A TINY TINY CHIP RIGHT AT THE BASE

THE BOTTLE WEIGHS 1KG

The bottle is a stone porter from around 1840-80 produced by Powell of Bristol, who perfected their glaze in 1835. Can’t trace the Brown Jug Brewery Cheltenham. Porter bottles are not easy to come by but their appeal is restricted to specialist and local collectors.
