I've casually collected fruit jars for many years, but also have a few bottles I've picked up here and there. I'm having trouble identifying a couple and hope someone can help.

1. Cobalt Blue, 3.75" tall. Embossed on the side:

A circle containing the words "Central Pharmacy" as well as a logo, P within a C, all in a small circle.
A.T. Woolpert
P.D. Quisenberry
410 State St. Salem, Ore.

It's a beautiful bottle, in excellent condition, but is this a regional collector's item, given the fact that many pharmacies had their own bottles, and if so, how does one go about pricing it?

2. What appears to be a beverage or soda bottle. It stands 7" tall, the neck is 3" and the lip nearly an inch. It's round, tapering down from the shoulder to the base. It's clear, but has a pink or peach tint, especially at the base. Embossed on the side is:
TRADE-MARK
E AND S
BRAND
All within a circle. The E and the S are in big block letters.

There are two seams coming up the sides, one ends just below the lip, the other halfway between the lip and the shoulder. The inside of the base is thicker on one side, almost as if the bottle were tilted as it cooled. This is where you can see the pink/peach color better.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, Kat. Your cobalt Oregon pharmacy bottle is a very desirable one. Clear pharmacy bottles generally appeal only to collectors from their local area. Colored ones in cobalt, emerald green, teal, etc. are a whole other story. They are generally scarce (some are quite rare), and there are national collectors who specialize in them.

I have never seen or heard of the one you have, but it could very well be worth several hundred dollars. I would recommend consulting with a reputable bottle auction house on that one. A very nice find indeed [:)]. ~Jim

Hello Kat and welcome to the forum. What kind of fruit jars do you collect? Nice cobalt medicine bottle. I agree with Jim on gettting a professional opinion of the value. Thanks for sharing the pics. Paul

Good morning and thank you for the welcome and information.

It's very cool that my bottle is potentially worth quite a bit. I doubt I paid more than $3.00 for it, if I paid anything at all. I probably found it at a garage sale, liked the color because it matched a bunch of Bromo bottles and jars I already had. I do know that we still have a Quisenberry's Pharmacy here in Salem, but it's no longer on State St. Maybe today I'll take a drive past the address on the bottle and see what's there now.

Paul, I probably have a hundred jars or more, but most are packed away in boxes. I got some Ball Blues maybe 20 years ago, liked the color, so started picking up more when I saw them at garage sales. More jars trickled in through the years, then I started buying jars I didn't have, but I never paid more than a few dollars for any. A few years ago we moved into a house that the previous owner had left dozens of old jars in the basement. A lot of those are Economy half gallons, and a bunch of Kerr wide mouth pints, the Oregon ones, I think. It's very much a hodge-podge collection, and I think the only one I have that's worth any thing more than a few dollars is the Sealtite Wide Mouth Mason pint in apple green. I just got my first copy of Red Book, so I'm having fun going through the jars and seeing what I've got.

Thanks again for your help. [:)]

I don't have anything of substance to add, but that pharmacy bottle is absolutely beautiful! The embossing is abundant and the circular seal only adds to its visual appeal. When I see brown pharmacy bottles I think they are great, so I couldn't imagine how sweet it'd be to have such a cool cobalt, from one's own hometown no less!

I collect colored druggist, and I haven't seen that one before, I don't think. I would like to buy it, but couldn't pay hundreds of dollars for it. Email me if you would like to sell it. If you list it on Ebay, let me know so I can bid.
Nice bottle !
