Hi there, new to the forum. I've been collecting bottles for awhile but just got into collecting old coke bottles. I haven't been able to find much information on dating this one from Israel. It's NOT an ACL, but some (aggravating) person decided to try and put white paint on the letters to make it look like an ACL. I guess it would at least be from the early 50's (before the ACL came out) but can anyone elaborate further? It's a little over 9 inches tall, nothing on the bottom.

Welcome Cara. I'm seeing case wear so those would be wash and reuse. I'm not sure about how things were done in other parts of the world, but here in the US ACL (applied color label) came out in the 1930's for many bottles but not many Coke bottles. They largely remained embossed until about the 60's I think. I don't collect them personally so I never studied them. I suspect yours is at least 70's, maybe later.

Welcome Cara! Usually all cokes have a date code stamped near the skinny part of the bottle a couple inches above the base. There's usually a two digit year code and a two digit mold code.

Is that the little heart shaped thing I heard about Steve?

Not sure about heart shape eric, it's at the waist of the hobbleskirt like on this 1937 coke from an old ABN post:

Hi again. Like I said in the original post, this is NOT an ACL. Its logo is embossed. Someone had tried to paint with white paint over the lettering and painted 'Israel' at the bottom of the bottle in the same paint. Took a minute to get it off. And no, there's no date stamp. No numbers or anything on the entire bottle or on the bottom. The first ACL on a coke bottle was used in 1957 (from my research). I guess everyone is just as stumped as I am. Why couldn't they just put a dang date on it? Oh well. Here's an updated picture with the paint off.

From what I understand there wasn't a Coke plant in Israel until the mid 1960's, since there are no other markings on your bottle it leads me to believe it was made overseas and most likely in Israel. I'd figure your bottle is from the mid 70's + or - 10 years, but I'm no Coke expert...
