I bought a Coke bottle on eBay - no information other than the fact that it is embossed with big letters on the bottom. It says "Water Valley" around the bottom, with MISS sideways. I'll post a link to the bottle below. Could anyone tell me how old the bottle might be based on the city? I know that some plants were bought out by others before the depression, and I've never even heard of this city before... Wikipedia even says it's a town of about 3K people. The smallest city for a Coke bottle that I currently have is Bunkie, LA, at 4100 people. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201100989586

Not by the city but think I see "Trade Mark Reg in the US PAT Office" which I think started in the 50's. Someone else may have a better date.

The majority of contour/hobbleskirt Coca Cola bottles have makers marks and date codes. Look closely on the side and/or heel for any type of numbers and/or symbols. If it's an Owens-Illinois bottle the mark will likely be on the side and look something like this # <(I)> # This snippet is from Bill Porter's book and shows the variation issue dates ...

If I could only get a better view... either way, D patent, 1915, or 1923, it's still a unique bottle from a small town.

Is rare harder to find than scarce? Hate to ask, but different websites give different answers.

I'm guessing Scarce+ would mean that. Don't know, though.
Rare is harder to find than scarce--if your information is correct. Numerous sellers will say it's scarce or rare, but it isn't.

Lucky me! The bottle is the D-patent bottle (a good starting point for bottles, to get the base of cities, then moving up to Christmas cokes and 1915 Cokes), but in AMAZING condition. Will be posting pictures shortly.
