tftfan , I have used a sharpened car antenna to probe for bottles in what I knew was a shallow surface dump. They are cheap and work great and you probably will not break any thing. Just a thought.

a probe is very nice in tight spaces. depending on the dirt a metal hanger straitened out makes a good probe too. If there are bottles down there they are usually either from a previous use of the land before the building was there or there had to be a way to get them in there. Spaces where stuff could be slid in from the outside such as windows,vents, holes or lack there of a foundation or a hatch in the floor above. Also down through the walls... Typically there isn't anything below a foot deep unless the area can be flooded and water and dirt washed in, or if there is a privy or cistern for some reason. Thanks for all the info. It is a cistern, now I guess I need to hall dirt out if we are gonna dig. Just no room .[&:] Gotta be some bottles. Found a cool button, next pic.

Any info ? I cant find it on any search. This should be fun, I squeez into a little opening, cant be a foot by two ft. Army crawl back in. [:D] Hope we get some cool bottles !

for this you'll need to post a pic of the back as well with the name cleary visble in photo

wow , i like other people love digging cisterns, is the house abandonded? im sure theres bottles in there, how deep are you down?
